Premier League Predictions: 14 games in – what will the table look like in May?

As we approach the festive period in the footballing calendar, we start to get a sense of which teams are going to have a successful season and who are going to struggle.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, clubs have the chance to change their fortunes if they spend wisely.

Here are my predictions for what the table will look like in May as things stand.

20. Hull

Hull have been in poor form after the departure of Steve Bruce and will likely struggle to stay afloat.

Hull have been consistently inconsistent this season.

They have some good players with the likes of Hernandez and Dawson but the turmoil surrounding the appointment of Mike Phelan may have given the team too much to do to avoid the drop.

19. Swansea

Manager Bob Bradley has enjoyed a mixed start to his role and will rely on a drastic upturn in form to avoid relegation.

It has been a difficult season for Swansea, another team that has suffered the stress of a managerial change.

Players including Llorente and Fer have excelled in a team that look destined for the drop unless results pick up soon.

18. Burnley

Burnley have had an average start to the season however their squad may not be big enough to compete with the other teams.

Despite Burnleys strong start to the campaign, their team is very thin and arguably not at a suitable quality to get results against other teams fighting relegation.

Sean Dyche is undeniably a good manager but faces a challenge to keep this team afloat.

17. Sunderland

Boro have a young manager and a talented squad that should see them finish lower mid table this season.

The Black Cats haven’t had an easy start to life under David Moyes.

For many they are destined to go down but the goals Defoe brings and the performances of young keeper Jordan Pickford could see them keep their league status.

16. Crystal Palace

Alan Pardew has had a poor start to the season given the money spend in the summer transfer window. If results do not improve soon then they will find the rest of the season very difficult.

Palace were hugely ambitious in the summer, spending big money on Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke.

With these signings totalling over £40 million, the results have not replicated this investment and Pardew may find himself unemployed if he cannot turn things around soon.

15. Middlesbrough

Boro have a young manager and a talented squad that should see them finish lower mid table this season.

Many didn’t expect much from Middlesbrough this season but they have surprised so far this term.

If they can improve their home form and Negredo finds form then they could enjoy a successful season.

14. West Ham

The move to the Olympic Stadium has proven difficult so far for West Ham and their form may be dependant on whether they can improve the atmosphere at their new home.

West Ham have been the underachievers so far this year.

With players like Payet and Lanzini they should be towards the top of the league but the move to the Olympic Stadium has removed the identity of the club and the rest of the season could be difficult.

13. Bournemouth

Bournemouth did well to avoid relegation last season and are looking on good shape to consolidate their Premier League status this year.

For a team with a stadium capacity of 11,000 Bournemouth have proven themselves to be a solid Premier League side.

£15 million signing Jordon Ibe has struggled to impress but with big wins against Liverpool showing they can perform when it matters, they will surely enjoy a mid table finish.

12. Leicester

Leicester completed a fairytale season by winning the Premier League last season but have find it harder this year.

11. West Brom

Tony Pulis has guided West Brom to a strong position in the first half of the season however the teams around them will surely improve in January and their success should be temporary.

10. Watford

Watford have a talented squad but they should find it hard to compete for a higher position than mid table.
9. Southampton

Southampton have a squad on the verge of competing with the big teams should they be able to keep their big name players.

8. Stoke City

Stoke have made some quality additions to their team such as Joe Allen which have seen them become a force at the top half of the table.

7. Everton

Koeman is a promising manager with the financial support from new owners that will see Everton finish stronger than they started this season.

6. Manchester United

The additions of Ibrahimovic and Pogba alongside Mourinho have given United boost, his defensive tactics could prove to hinder their Champions League aspirations.

5. Tottenham

Spurs have a team full of young British talent however they may find it difficult to compete with rivals due to financial restraints from their new stadium construction.

4. Manchester City

City have brought in a world class manager in Pep Guardiola but this season their focus has been the Champions League and it may take time for Pep to get used to the English League.

3. Liverpool

Klopp has transformed this Liverpool side and instilled a belief that could see them finish in the Champions League spots for the first time since 2014.

2. Arsenal

Arsenal typically struggle in the league after the new year however their squad has been very impressive this season, Ozil and Sanchez if on top form could give them an vital boost.

1. Chelsea

Chelsea have started brightly this season and will look to repeat their title success of 2015.
